Module 2: What You Need To Start An Affiliate Blogging Business

Key takeaway

You only need $50–$100 (a $7 domain, $30–$70 hosting) to start an affiliate blog; the real barrier is patience — most people quit before the 6-month mark when SEO results start compounding into a passive income stream.

Upfront Cost

You need $7 for a .com domain. You need anywhere from $30-$70 for a hosting. That’s all you need. You can use free wordpress theme. You can write yourself. SEO is free too.

But if you don’t have $50 to start this business, then this is not for you.

You need to start writing.

This entire affiliate marketing course is based on Blogging and SEO. Which means writing. Now, I understand that for most people, writing might not be your forte, or you’d probably already have a writing job. Maybe you can’t even fill in a Christmas card to save your own life. But if you don’t write, there’s nothing for you to rank on Google. Just remember, you don’t have to be the BEST writer to make money online. You just need to write. Something. And then hire someone in the Philippines to clean up the mess.

The one thing that you MUST learn, however, is how to prepare a draft. You can’t expect a freelance writer to know everything that’s going on inside your head. It’s very important for you to produce the direction you want your writing to go in and some guidelines in the draft. Without that draft, your writer will just find some generic content online to mix and match, which is the last thing you want.

The point is, you can be so terrible at writing your old English teacher would froth at the mouth just looking at your piece. But as long as you’re able to sit down, dedicate some time towards whipping up a basic (comprehensible!) draft and then outsourcing it, your blog will be set. Then you can spend that extra time learning more crucial skills, like SEO and how to market your blog.

But here’s the catch: you HAVE to be good at either marketing or writing. After all, your Filipino guy can’t do both (even if he is Asian). So if you can’t write at all and you are too lazy to learn marketing, then this course is not for you.

Don’t ever stop. Not even pause.

Blogging requires an ongoing effort.

SEO requires an ongoing effort.

Making money online requires an ongoing effort.

So I have to say upfront that you’re likely to invest the first 3 months in working your arse off following my guide, and STILL not make a single cent. But! If you could stick with me for a little longer, from 6 months to one year, you’ll be on your way to making thousands and hundreds of thousands online.

No joke.

It’s just math.

It’s just like the bamboo tree. For the first 4 years of a bamboo tree’s life, you won’t see one peep of the shoot no matter how much you water or fertilize it. But as long as you keep watering and fertilizing it, by the 5th year it will break the ground -and soon grow 90 feet tall. SEO blogging is the same. You need to water your blog with articles for 6 months to one year before you’ll see the end results.

So what if nobody knows or cares about you at the beginning, no matter how awesome your blog on cat-themed clothes is? So what if you’re not ranked on Google, and nobody can discover you? They’re all just missing out on the fluffy goodness that is Mr Snuggles on a tie. But as time progresses, with the SEO strategies I will teach further in this course implemented consistently, you’ll start getting higher and higher rankings on Google.

Users will begin to stumble upon Katz&Sox out of intrigue.

They will find your well-crafted posts.

They will start to trust you as they read more content from your blog.

And then someone will click on a link you recommended and buy that god-awful sweater from it.

Voilà.

You make a commission.

And when it snowballs to, say, 100 users buying something you promoted on your website, you will start making thousands on commissions daily.

That sounds GREAT, you say. But if all this is true, why isn’t everybody getting rich off SEO and affiliate marketing yet?

That’s because most people don’t stick around for longer than 6 months. They think it’s hard. They think it’s supposed to be a get-rich-quick scheme as promoted by other Gurus.

Sadly (for the both of us), there’s no such thing as getting rich quick. You’ll get rich quick only if you invested in bitcoin in 2017. And judging by the fact you’re here, you missed that train to ride from $500 to $18k.

Let there be a moment of silence.

If you’ve read this and are STILL finding other opportunities to get rich QUICK…

Well, good luck.

OR, you could learn from this course and implement my strategies consistently for 6 months, and start getting better results. Once you hit this goldmine, it’s a continuous stream of passive income forever. After just 1 year of this, you could probably retire and spend the rest of your days sipping on mai tais while making $10k passive income monthly from your SEO Blog.

Or, you know. You could continue working on it out of passion and make it to $50k monthly. The choice is yours.

What if you have no time?

To put it politely: bullshit.

Don’t stare into space in the shower or during a traffic jam; think about what you want to write. Take 10 minutes during lunch break or just before bed to jot down some ideas. Spend less time watching hamsters on YouTube.

(No, you absolutely do not need to look at it eating tiny pancakes one more time. No matter how cute.)

Either ways you can go slowly, and try publishing just one article weekly. Heck, you could publish one article monthly, and you’d still be better than your peers who are FOREVER seeking out opportunities and never getting started.

Remember, starting slow is better than never starting at all.

FAQ

How much money do you actually need to start an affiliate blogging business?

The minimum startup cost is a .com domain (around $7) and basic hosting ($30–$70 per year) — roughly $50 total. WordPress is free, SEO is free, and you can write the content yourself. If you cannot invest $50, affiliate blogging is not the right starting point. Everything else — themes, freelance writers, paid tools — is optional and can be added later as revenue grows.

How long does it take to make money from an affiliate SEO blog?

Expect to invest the first 3 months producing content and seeing zero revenue. Between 6 months and one year, rankings begin to climb and commissions start appearing. Think of it like a bamboo tree: for the first four years nothing visible happens above ground, but by year five it shoots up 90 feet. The reason most people fail is they quit before the 6-month mark — not because the strategy doesn't work.

Do I need to be a good writer to run an affiliate blog?

No, but you must be able to produce a workable draft — a direction, outline, or set of guidelines. You can then hire a freelance writer (often from the Philippines at low cost) to polish it. However, you must be skilled at either writing or marketing; outsourcing both leaves no competitive edge. Your Filipino writer cannot also manage your SEO and promotion strategy.
